Education has the potential to transform lives. Bombs are likely to kindle more hate and retaliation and will probably kill a ton of innocent people, too.
Education, especially among girls, is one of the most powerful ways to fight poverty and transform communities. Malala Yousafzai has shown the world how to respond to violence and division with courage. She's trying to fight poverty and terrorism with education. Check out her work here.
I don't expect a nonviolent response to terrorism, but I have a few questions that I think are worth reflecting on as we watch our world become increasingly violent and fearful.
What creative, life-giving alternatives to violence can we experiment with?
How can we shift funds from violent solutions to empowering solutions?
How has education changed your life?
If we don't risk toward peaceful options, how will we ever stop killing each other and the kids?
God of peace. We need courage to respond to violence in creative and healing ways.
