This illustrates how I often experience contemplative prayer. I slow down in silence to listen to God, but it takes time to declutter the voices of busyness, loneliness and condemnation. It's in returning to this place where I'm reminded that I am loved unconditionally, am not alone, need not worry and don't need to be afraid of anything. Then I can rekindle the courage to embrace and reflect that same spirit to my neighbor and enemy.
What happens for you when you sit for 20 minutes listening to God's heart toward you?
How can we cultivate an inner rootedness in Jesus that reminds us of who we are?
How can we extend that love to our neighbors, refugees, the LGBT community, Muslims, and even our enemy?
God, I want to listen to you and share your same Spirit of Love with everyone. Help me to return to you often enough to be centered in your Spirit.
