The Good News of Jesus' birth was first announced to the shepherds - the discredited outcasts of society at the time. They were untrusted and excluded. But God wanted them to know that they were special, valuable and deeply loved. In this cartoon, I replace the shepherds with people in the world today that the pious often reject.
As followers of Jesus, we must think seriously about how we are including or excluding people.
What marginalized group have you kept your distance from?
How can you love and include people from that group?
What might it cost you in terms of comfort or reputation?
What is stopping you from moving toward them in love and inclusion today?
Thanks God, that you love outcasts and misfits without condition. I want to receive and share that kind of love.
